Cold Hunt $5K Draft Open

The Eternal^®2021 World Championship Series continues with the Cold Hunt $5k Draft Open!

Beginning on Friday, November 19th at 10:00 AM MST (17:00 UTC) with entry open until Saturday, November 21st at 4:00 PM MST (23:00 UTC), the Cold Hunt $5K Draft Open is a chance to use your drafting savvy to earn a place at the World Championship. All participants will earn an alternate art copy of Assembly Line for each of their first four runs! Players with the Masters Medallion will also earn premium alternate art copies for their runs and begin round one with two wins already under their belt.

And for another exciting change, unlike previous draft tournaments, the Cold Hunt $5K Draft Open will NOT be a phantom draft. That’s right, players will get to keep every card they draft as part of this event!

Make sure to tune in on the Dire Wolf Digital Twitch to see the top 64 battle it out for a spot in the 2021 World Championship with live commentary from Andrew Baeckstrom and Patrick Sullivan. Twitch drops will be enabled throughout the broadcast so make sure to check out the action and get your share of the loot! The stream begins at 11:00 AM MST (18:00 UTC) on Sunday, November 21st.

The release of Cold Hunt brings with it changes to the Draft format and the Draft rewards structure!

Draft Rewards Update:

NOTE: The draft rewards mentioned in this section relate to the rewards for typical Draft queues available 24/7 in Eternal, not the specific queues for the Cold Hunt $5K Draft Open. The rewards table for this event can be seen below, in the “Prizes” section.

For a limited time with the release of Cold Hunt we’re turning that up to (set) 12 with a new reward structure that’s giving out a dragon’s hoard worth of gold! With this update, hitting 5 wins in Draft provides enough gold to Draft again, and 7 wins gets you a guaranteed Legendary card.

The new rewards offer unprecedented access to the infinite strategy of Eternal Drafting, and the chance to pay your victories forward into an endless strategic challenge. Time to crack some packs!

This draft update is a significant and exciting change to the economy, and it is motivated in part by the feedback we’ve received from our passionate community. With changes of this magnitude, it is not possible to predict all of the ramifications ahead of time. It is possible we are going to want to continue to iterate on the draft rewards, and also possible we are going to want to keep them as-is for the foreseeable future. We will be monitoring both queue and economy health in the coming weeks.

The Cold Hunt $5k Draft Open consists of two stages: Qualifiers that are open to all players on Steam, iOS, Android, and Xbox, and the Finals that will feature the Top 64 players from the Qualifiers.

Participating in the Cold Hunt $5k Draft Open requires a registered and validated account and email address. This can be done through the Options menu in-game. We strongly encourage players to register and validate their email addresses in advance of attempting to enter the tournament.

The Qualifiers will consist of 4 draft runs.
Each run, a player will draft a new deck, and play 7 matches with that deck, win-or-lose.
After the 7 matches, the player will earn their run rewards and be able to enter the event again.
All players on Steam, Xbox, and iOS or Android phones & tablets can participate.
The Qualifiers begin on Friday, November 19th at 10:00 am MST (17:00 UTC) and will close sharply on Saturday, November 20th at 4:00 pm MST (23:00 UTC).
- No one may enter the tournament or start a new game after 4:00 pm MST (23:00 UTC) on Saturday.
- Games in progress may be completed until 4:30 pm MST (23:30 UTC), at which time all scores will become final.
Players can complete their games at any time during the Qualifiers.
After all competitors have finished their 28 matches, the top 64 players will advance to the finals.
Each run has an entry cost of 450 Gems or 8750 Gold. (A total of 1800 Gems or 35,000 Gold for a maximum 4 runs.)

The Finals begin promptly at 11:00 am MST (18:00 UTC) on Sunday, November 21st.
- Qualifying players must be online and ready to play when the Finals begin.
- You will receive an in-game prompt to join your first game when the Finals begin.
The finals are open to only the top 64 players from the Qualifiers.
The top 64 players will play in a seeded, single elimination bracket.
Finals matches are best-of-3 games.
When the finals begin, players will have 45 minutes to draft and build their decks. After this time, we will send a list of draft pools to all players.
Play will begin after all players have received the draft pools of the other players via email.
After the tournament has progressed to the Top 8, players will enter another seeded single elimination bracket. Players will again have 45 minutes to draft and build new decks. After this time, we will send the new draft pools to all players.
Top 8 play will begin again after players have received the new draft pools via email.
There will be a short delay between the last active game in a round and the start of the next round.
All games must finish before the next round can start, so watch the Bracket View.
When it is time to play, you will receive an invitation to join your next game.

Players will keep all cards they draft throughout the event
Leaderboard Prizes and Premium alternate art cards will be delivered after the conclusion of the Finals. All packs are from Cold Hunt.
All players will receive up to four alternate art copies of Assembly Line just for participating! (One copy per run entered.)
Players with the Masters Medallion will also receive up to four premium alternate art copies of Assembly Line! (One copy per run entered, delivered after the tournament conclusion.)
